Ron Stenberg (1919-2017) had a long distinguished career as an artist, teacher and illustrator, carrying our his practice in New Zealand and Scotland where he spent his last 30 years as a Professor of Painting at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee. Destined for the south island, this 2011 composition, from the Fine Art Society New Zealand exhibition, Drawn From Life, Ian Shearing Goats, is a hand-coloured etching. It sits alongside a similar pastel subject composition from 1991. These are the only two same-subject pieces known to exist in the Stenberg collection.
