The Bull Pine Tree, sold from the exhibition, As You Like It, by gallery artist, Julie Mello. In her own words. "The tree in this painting reminds me of a time when I was a little girl and my grandfather and I were walking in the woods and we stopped at a big, old pine tree and he said, "gal, this is a bull pine… see how it's bigger than all the other pine trees around here." He explained how it had more branches and was older than all the other trees, sort of the king tree... then we continued on our way, on to our next project. Quite often when I see one of these old man pines, as they are known in New Zealand, I think of my Popsie and all of our little chats".
