A Day to Remember

June, Lady Hillary portrait unveiled

After an initial cancellation in August due to the virus re-emergence, the portrait unveiling event finally took place on 15th October. Friends and family jockeyed for position to get the best viewing opportunity once the  portrait had been unveiled via a curtain draw by Lady June's daughters, Susan Hayman and Robyn Mulgrew. Both Tom Scott and MC Mark Sainsbury shared many stories of their wonderful memories with Lady June.

The occasion also included some beautiful live music from Martin Griffiths (cello) and daughter Celia Griffiths (violin)

By common acclaim the portrait is superb addition to the national archive as part of the Hillary collection at the Auckland Museum where it will reside, early in the new year. Until then the portrait can be seen at the Welcome Swallow Gallery.
