Fabulous night in the Gallery
The Welcome Swallow Gallery exhibition, Joy of Humanity: People & Place had it's opening launch night, 22nd January 2021. There were 100 attendees who heard new Gallery artist, Juliet Roper share her own artistic journey. Prior to Juliet's speech, CEO and trust Chair, Dorothy Gilson, explained the reasoning behind the curation of the exhibition, noting that the Gallery had requested the artists to present the joy of emerging out of 2020, a year dominated by the global pandemic.
Also presented was the Volunteer's Choice Award that was won by artist Bernadette Parsons with her composition, Haast Beech Study (see below). This is the second time that Bernadette has taken out this Award.
Finally, on behalf of the Trust Board, Clive Gilson thanked Martin Griffiths for his outstanding solo cello contribution that elevated the joy of the evening. Gilson also gave special thanks to the Trust Volunteers and the artists who contributed their very special skills.
The exhibition runs from 22nd January till 26th March.
